About Journey Rock Band
Journey is a famous American rock band established in San Francisco in the year 1973 by former members of Santana, Steve Miller Band, and Frumious Bandersnatch. The name Journey was taken from the word 'journey' (a slang word used in many western movies when a movie is set in some time period) which was written by Keith Richards in his book 'I Wrote the Book'. After the band's split in 1985, they formed a new band called Voodoo Glow Skulls, with new members and a slightly updated sound. Following the death of lead singer Tom Petty in 1993, the group disbanded in 1995. In 2005, a group of former Journey members reunited to perform at the San Diego Zoo for the first time in nearly 40 years. It is expected that new guitarist Neal Schon will join the reformed group in December of 2012.
The band is currently on hiatus, though they are planning their next reunion in 2019, as well as a full-length album, an extended play, tour dates and other plans. Journey recently released the single 'Don't Stop' and its music video in July 2010. They also toured the United States in October 2010 in support of the album 'Songs in A Minor'. They performed on stage in front of 20,000 people for two consecutive nights at The Fox Theatre in Los Angeles, California. On August 1, 2010, it was announced that Journey would be reuniting for a tour in November, starting in Chicago, Illinois. A video of their reunion was released in August 2010 on the VH1 series 'VH-1 Documentary.'
In November 2010 they announced a two-month tour of Europe and Asia, beginning in Prague, Czech Republic on November 19 and ending in Amsterdam, Netherlands on December 13. Their last performance in Australia was on January 31, 2011. Prior to their 2012 reunion, Journey performed several shows in Europe in April, May and June 2011, in addition to performing in an outdoor concert in London, England on July 5, 2012, during the British Summer Time television show 'Summer of Love.' The band also announced their plans for their second album on June 2, 2009, via their official website.
